Product Picks: Must Haves and Best Sellers

Most beauty brands will have a hero product, and I have compiled a list of must haves and best sellers. It is not easy choosing favourites when there are so many amazing beauties out there but the following selection of products have all been tried and tested (and adored) by Beauty and Lace…

Did you know, Benetint was originally created back in the ’70s for an exotic dancer who wanted pinker, prettier nipples? These days this Benefit product is mainly used for lips and cheeks, but it gives a beautiful rose coloured tint wherever it is applied.

benetint

A best seller for the brand, Benetint is a versatile product which every woman should try at least once – personally I like the tinted lip look as it gives them a healthy looking glow. RRP $55.00 / Stockists: 02 8353 5000

I’ve been familiar with the Urban Rituelle brand since way back when, and it comes as little surprise that their lip balms are a best seller. There is something really lovely about carrying around a lipbalm in a little round tin, especially when it’s pink like their pomegranate offering.

pomegranate

The balm itself goes on clear but it has that pomegranate flavouring as well as beeswax, sweet almond oil, olive oil, shea butter and vitamin E. RP $10.95 / Stockists: www.urbanrituelle.com.au

It was hard to choose which Nivea product to pick for this feature as the brand has so many favourites. One in four women may use their NIVEA Creme, but instead I have chosen their number one seller in Australia (approx 50 bottles sold every hour) which is the Rich Nourishing Body Lotion. I like both products but I prefer the pump bottle to the jar, and this is such a lovely moisturising pick for winter – it’s a winner any way you look at it.

Rich Nourishin

It’s perfect for very dry skin and has the extra benefit of almond oil. It’s creamy but not too thick and has that lightly fragranced scent you can’t help but associate with NIVEA. RRP $7.99 / Stockists: 1800 103 023

1000 Hour‘s key product is their Eyelash and Brow Dye Kit and it brings a traditional salon service into the comfort of your own home. One application will actually last around 1000 hours (4-6 weeks) and it is easy enough to use. With darker brows in fashion you can skip the daily penciling and just master this little kit!

If you have sensitive eyes you do need to be extra careful (just as you would with salon eyebrow tinting), a patch test is recommended but I had no problems. Australian made! RRP $18.95 / Stockists: 02 9526 0777

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula requires no introduction, I remember discovering this as a teenager because it was an affordable body moisturiser and have continued using it – especially throughout my pregnancies.

palmers cocoa butter

The range of products has grown, but the original is still the best. Vitamin E is combined with the Cocoa Butter, and in addition to being a rich moisturiser it also helps minimise the appearance of scarring. RRP $7.40 / Stockists: 1300 19 19 18

Every girl should have a staple red nail polish in her collection and although ORLY have over 150 shades in their collection, the reddest of them all could just be Haute Red. This is glossy and even just one coat will give you stand out nails.

HauteRed

A steady hand is a must, but the result is instant glam…red is timeless! RRP $18.95 / Stockists: 1300 769 355

One of the best sellers over at MeMeMe Cosmetics is their Seventh Heaven Moisturising Facebase. I always find this brand puts a little extra into their packaging and this is no exception with it’s sleek glass jar. Containing Shea Butter, Vitamin A and Beta-Carotene, this is luxury packaged in luxury.

seventh_heaven

The product has a yummy citrus scent and is applied under your makeup as a primer – or you can use it as a standalone product if you are just wanting to smooth out any imperfections. RRP $34.95 /Stockists: www.mememecosmetics.com.au

Lara Bingle recently raved about Kiehl’s Creme de Corps on Twitter, but she isn’t the only fan of the product. This is a must have pick from the brand as it works as a super moisturising body cream and your skin does feel softer almost instantly after application.

creme de corps

I find this especially useful on those extra dry spots like your elbows, and if used regularly the condition of the skin will be improved. Kiehl’s have been doing beauty since 1851 so they know what they are talking about! RRP from $15.00 / Stockists: 1300 651 991

Jane Iredale have plenty of best sellers but I’m going to go for their Liquid Minerals foundation as my must have – because it has that special something. If you want to try mineral foundation, but haven’t mastered a mess free application then this one is for you! This is mineral foundation in liquid form, with loads of other goodies packed into small foundation beads.

Liquid Minerals

To use simply pump onto your hand and apply with a foundation brush – this is one beautiful foundation that transforms from bead form to liquid form in an instant! RRP $86.00 / Stockists: 1300 SKINCARE

Rosehip Oil is one of those products which truly works, and doesn’t require fancy keywords or fancy packaging. A’kins Pure Radiance Rosehip Oil is certified organic and the moisturising process is supported by Pro Vitamin A, Vitamin E and Omega 9, 3 and 6!

akin

This is suitable for all skin types and just a few drops massaged into your face will leave it feeling and looking amazing. RRP $19.95 / Stockists: 1800 631 283

OPI is another nail polish brand with a long list of bestsellers, but Lincoln Park After Dark is a cult favourite. It’s edgy and dark for the cooler months with it’s rich purple tones. There is some shine and this will always be a go to colour.

Dior have their Diorshow Mascara, if you can only afford one beauty product from this cosmetic company this would be it. This was inspired from the catwalk and is one that will satisfy both professionals and at home beauties.

diorshow

The brush is extra large for a bold look that really brings out your eyes. RRP $52.00 / Stockists: 02 9695 4800

A pretty pink lipgloss is one of my essentials because there are times when you want something soft and sweet! Arbonne’s lip polish in Posh Chic gives you lovely pink lips which aren’t too over the top.

posh

Get the shine without the sticky! RRP $36.00 / Stockists: 1800 650 760

Beeswax is the secret to the success of Burt’s Bees, and one of their classics is their Beeswax lip balm. I like the cuteness of the tin version but it also comes in a tube. It has peppermint oil so it does give your lips a bit of a kick – in the nicest possible way!

burts bees
If you aren’t a mint girl I would choose a different variety as it is quite strong – but dry lips will be rejoicing for Burt’s Bees. RRP $7.95 / Stockists: David Jones and selected retail outlets.

My first encounter with Napoleon Perdis was with their Auto Pilot Primer and it is still something I use regularly. I would go as far to say it was the first primer I ever used. Vitamin E and Chamomile help to moisturise the skin and prepare it for stage two – the foundation.

auto pilot

If you have never used a primer they really do make a difference, and this will certainly make your makeup last that little bit longer. Plus, the packaging has recently gone gold! RRP $55.00 / Stockists: 02 8595 0911

Tangerine is a colour that is much talked about right now, and popping up everywhere in makeup and fashion. Innoxa have a lipstick which is a really summery shade which has become one of their highest selling products.

tangerine

Tangerine is one of their matte choices and it moisturises your lips while making them the highlight of your look. RRP $14.95 / Stockists: 1300 650 981

The Flamenco Colour Inject Mineral Lipstick looks so good sitting next to the Tangerine I almost want to wear them together. This is one gorgeous pink popping shade and makes me feel like spring is in the air.

flamenco

I’m quite a fan of the Australia lippies, they are young and fresh with lots of great shades. RRP $12.95 / Stockists: 1300 650 981

Eco Tools use sustainable bamboo and cruelty free bristles to create their makeup brushes. The 6 piece set have all your basic brushes to blend, shape and groom. The brushes are nice and soft and give you a good application. It is good to have an alternative available for earth conscious girls.

eco tools

This set comes with a little carry bag which of course is also eco friendly – it’s made from natural cotton and hemp. RRP $27.95 / Stockists: 02 9526 0777

And to finish is one of the hottest products from Face of Australia. Their liquid eyeliner is always a favourite and is easy to apply – which always makes a difference when it comes to eyeliner. It defines your eyes but if you prefer a thinner line that is achievable too as the brush is quite fine.

liquid eyeliner

Water resistant, beautiful eyes and a low pricetag! RRP $8.95 / Stockists: Priceline, Big W, KMart and selected pharmacies.

  1. I love reading lists of favourite products, especially when you know the person whose list it is has genuinely used all the products mentioned. Well done, Lace.
