When it comes to skin care, I’m in love with great products. There’s nothing like a very effective cream of supplement to make my skin feel loved. But as much as I love to try out every new skin product on the block, I’ve learned that this shouldn’t be my first line of defense. These are products that take your already healthy skin to the next level.
They’re not products that will get your skin healthy in the first place. For real health, built from the ground up, you’ve got to make some changes in the way you live. 1) Eat the Right Stuff. Avocados, greens of all kinds, quality meats, whole grains, beans, rice. This is the stuff that your skin loves. In fact, it’s the broken down elements of these foods that your body is made of. Your cells are dying and regenerating all the time. It uses nutrients from food to replace dead cells. If you think about it, junk food is where a lot of people get their bodies. In a very real way, you are what you eat. So the first gift you should buy your skin, before you even buy that anti aging mask I’m going to keep raving about, you should give your skin the gift of good food. If you don’t know how to prepare it, learn simple recipes that you enjoy. Just do a web search for a favorite food, then type “recipe” behind it. Buy some quality ingredients and make it a couple of times until it’s mind-blowingly delicious. Once you get a few weeks of great meals into your body, your skin will start to get a lot nicer.
2) Drink Enough Water. Most people are dehydrated. Don’t feel ashamed; it’s a common thing. But that doesn’t mean it’s not a big deal. Dehydration is at the root of a lot of different health problems. It can even contribute to a lowered immune system which can keep you sick or even result in cancer! I’m not saying water cures cancer, but it can contribute to a body that doesn’t get cancer in the first place. Keep in mind that you lose about a liter of water a day. That’s water you need to replace to avoid becoming chronically dehydrated. Think of dehydration like running a car with too little oil. Damage occurs slowly and eventually something major will go wrong. Keep your fluids topped off. If you’re unsure, try to drink two liters of water a day. Drink it till your urine is clear. Drink it till your skin is awesome.
3) Be Active. If your body isn’t fit, your skin will have a hard time measuring up to its potential. Simply by doing something active for 30 minutes a day, 6 days a week, older people studied showed a 40% lower chance of dying for any reason. That’s hugely significant, and you should try to do this even if you aren’t very old. It’ll help every system in your body, especially your skin. If you do this, your anti aging mask will work a lot better as well.
Your skin is an amazing thing, and it reacts to the health of your overall body. If you are dehydrated, malnourished, and unfit, your skin is going to be unhealthy. But if you do all of these things, your skin will thrive without you ever having to smear it with lotion.
