While Botox is a name we are all familiar with, but when choosing a wrinkle treatment Dysport is its biggest competitor. One difference is that Botox is from the US and Dysport has been studied in Europe.
Dr Benjamin Norris MBChB, MMed(CLinEpi), FRACS, is the Medical Director of Form and Face – Plastic Surgery and Medispa located in Bondi Junction. Dr Ben Norris is a board certified plastic surgeon. When asked the difference between the two he said:
“Overall, the effects of Botox and Dysport are much the same. However, given the dosage between Dysport and Botox are different, I tell my patients that Dysport may not last as long as Botox and that you usually need more Dysport to achieve the same results as Botox. Dysport also sometimes spreads more diffusely than planned and often starts working more quickly than Botox does.”
